The story of True Vine Church is one of divine calling, spiritual growth, and a heartfelt commitment to following God’s will. From the very start, this ministry has been fueled by a strong belief that God wants to create a community of disciples who live like family, honor Him in every aspect of life, and genuinely represent the Gospel to everyone around them.
After years of leading and serving in the Christian community, Reverend Pastor Jean Bosco ITERITEKA decided to pursue theological training specifically tailored for church leaders. During this time, he received solid biblical instruction on discipleship and spiritual leadership. It was also here that several prophetic messages affirmed God’s calling for him to plant a church in a new area: Tenga.
With the blessing of his local church and guided by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Jean Bosco began to gather friends and others who weren’t part of a church community to share the Word of God with them. This effort led to the launch of the Foundations of Faith Class on December 8, 2019, where ten individuals came together to explore the core truths of the Christian faith and the foundations of a life dedicated to Jesus Christ.
As the classes progressed, many participants experienced profound transformations through God’s Word and expressed a strong desire to live out what they were learning. In response to their spiritual thirst, Pastor Jean Bosco unveiled the vision that God had placed on his heart. This vision extended beyond just starting a local church; it was about creating a community of churches where members would live as a spiritual family, united in Christ’s love, dedicated to glorifying God, and committed to making disciples of all nations.
From Vision to Reality
Eight hearts united by faith, a community transformed by the Gospel.
The vision struck a chord with everyone involved. Eight participants stepped forward, feeling a strong call from God to create a community centered around Christ, rooted in the truth of Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and dedicated to fulfilling God’s mission. These beliefs gradually evolved into the core values that still shape True Vine Church today: being Christ-Centered, Biblically Governed, Led by the Holy Spirit, and Mission-Oriented.
United in purpose, they committed themselves to prayer, fasting, and seeking divine guidance. During a prayer walk in the Rubirizi area, the Holy Spirit made it clear that Tenga would be the first site for this church plant. After a period of preparation and discernment, Reverend Pastor Jean Bosco and his team were officially commissioned and sent out on December 27, 2020, following the biblical example found in Acts 13:1-4, receiving prayer, blessings, and support for the mission entrusted to them by God.
On January 3, 2021, in Tenga, Rubirizi, True Vine Church held its very first Sunday worship service. This gathering marked the official launch of a ministry inspired by God’s vision and driven by a clear mission: to glorify God by making disciples who embody the Gospel in every aspect of life. From the beginning, the aim was not just to bring believers together but to cultivate disciples who would live out and share the Gospel within their families, communities, workplaces, and wherever God leads them.
Since that moment, True Vine Church has passionately pursued this calling. Through biblical teaching, disciple-making, fellowship, leadership development, and mission engagement, the church strives to see lives transformed by Christ and equipped to make a difference in their generation. Our vision remains steadfast: to be a community of churches where members live as a family, dedicated to glorifying God by making disciples of Christ among all people.
Today, our journey unfolds with each life changed, every disciple empowered, and every community touched by the incredible power of the Gospel. This belief fuels our motto: “Wherever you are, represent the Gospel.” We hold that every follower of Jesus Christ is called to authentically share the Gospel in their unique context, ensuring that His name shines brightly among all peoples and nations.
